Forecast: Snow & Knitting

November 5, 2010

Just when you thought Jack Frost might sleep in for a    few more weeks, snow gets forecasted.  It’s time to buy salt  for the sidewalk, break out the shovel, and dig the warm  sweaters out of storage.

Or you can just stay in, drink cocoa, and knit.  New yarns  are in at the  shop.  Head on over before they disappear!

It’s a beautiful day to dye…

Someone has nine lovely skeins of yarn drying outside.

Mmmm yarn

November 2, 2010

I don’t know about you, but we’re looking forward to winter here at Pigmint.  There really isn’t anything better than knitting up something cozy to wear in a scrumptiously delightful yarn (except maybe Super Secret Cocoa with homemade marshmallows… but luckily, it’s easy to drink and knit.)

We just got some worsted merino and bulky merino superwash in to the studio, with plans to mix up some yummy colorways for you this weekend.

We won’t make you wait too long, though, we’ve just listed laceweight merino, and This Socks! merino and merino/alpaca sock yarn.

Coming soon!  Gift Certificates for the special people on your holiday gift list!

Ooooh! It’s Autumn!

The leaves have changed, the air is crisp, and we’ve been dyeing to show you a few new things!  Head on over to the shop!\

Get your ark out….

September 18, 2010

Since it isn’t general knowledge, my dyeing studio got flooded due to a leaky pipe.  I hadn’t gone in there for quite some time, and when I did, I was wondering if I could salvage anything (no, not really).  The pipe was directly over my workspace and everything was pretty much gone.

After the damage was repaired, I’ve been slowly working on getting enough dye, yarn, drying racks, etc to get back to dyeing again.  It looks like I may be back in business by January or so.  It seems like a hard hit to be getting back into it after the holiday rush, but such is life.

I am hoping to squeeze in some limited edition yarn (one-of-a-kind artisan-type deals) which will likely be in sock yarn since a pair of socks is easily had by one skein.

I hope all of you are well!

New yarns are in…

February 24, 2010

I uploaded 8 or so new skeins of new stuff… it’d really be great if we could have Feel-O-Vision to just touch the smooshy stuff, but you’ll have to take my word for it.  I think my favorite is Snozzberry, and I definitely think I’ll be dyeing up some sock yarn in the same colorway.  There’s just something about chocolate and turquoise that makes me happy.

Peeking is in order!

I should likely inform you…

October 27, 2009

That I broke my arm.

I’ve had several surgeries and a couple of casts so far, and am unable to get the darn thing wet (not to mention that my fingers are slowly becoming uncooperative).

I’ll update and post new yarn just as soon as I can get back to my dyepots!

The winner is…

Good luck!

You would think…

that I could make up my mind when it comes to digital cameras, but no.  Can’t.  The little beastie that has served SO well and taken SO much abuse finally bit it when it hit the puddle.  I’m leaning toward a Nikon CoolPix, but it looks a bit too fiddly for me.  Sometimes I like fiddly… sometimes not.

I do have to get a camera very very soon though, so I can start photographing yarn and whatnot.

First wee hint on the Summer Fun in the Sun Raffle has something to do with Molly Ringwald’s character, Andie, in Pretty in Pink.  I remember watching that movie over and over when it first came out on VHS (so much so, that I had to buy a head cleaner for the VCR–there’s going back– and a new tape.)   Now, I have it on DVD, so other than the minor scratch, it wears just fine.

I digress… Andie always made me think of retro thrift store hopping.. a little quirky, a little vintage-y.  The one still that comes to mind the most is this:

AndiePIP

Take what you will from that.. but there is your first hint.
